Awakening
Everyone in the world wakes up once a day, but a very lucky few will awaken twice. The familiar concept of rising from sleep, of pulling oneself up from unconsciousness into full, brilliant awareness of the day, can be applied to a higher form of awakening, one that Ilchi Lee emphasizes can open the way to enlightenment and self-worth.
Occasionally, in a moment of calm reflection, an individual will suddenly experience a moment of total awareness, in which what was previously unexamined suddenly becomes real and crystal clear before them. These moments, often called “realizations,” “awakenings” or “epiphanies,” are opportunities to explore oneself and to chart the smooth, sustaining bedrock of reality.
Ilchi Lee teaches that in each of us is a true self that holds unending potential and infinite value. It is easy to overlook the self in the squall of technologized Western living. However, this does not mean that there is no road back to peace, knowledge and serenity.
Instead, it simply means that it takes a small act of will to find oneself. Reflection, meditation and guided spiritual growth can help one accomplish this task. The universe offers us no alarm clock to snap us out of our daze. Instead, we must awaken ourselves.
