Laziness is an Illusion
Many people use laziness as an excuse.
When asked about how things are going, they answer,
“Well, I have a natural disposition to be lazy, so…”
Even as they claim that fixing their lazy habits
would change their entire lives, they still
cling on to the illusion that they are “naturally lazy.”
To one such man, I suggested he take up rock climbing.
“Rock climbing might help me build muscle and boost my courage, but how can it help me get rid of my laziness?” he questioned.
Nonetheless, he started rock climbing.
When you hold on to a single rope with the weight of your whole body,
your legs tremble and your whole body sweats.
There is a burning pain in your hands when you grab hold of the rope.
This man would have normally given up at experiencing just one tenth of the pain,
giving laziness as an excuse.
But he held on for his life and reached the top of the cliff.
Smiling at his own enlightenment, he said,
“As hard as it was, I could not let go of the rope.
Seeing myself holding onto the rope with all my might, I realized
laziness is just an illusion.”

Why We Need to Become Enlightened
Enlightenment is true love.
Without knowing your True Self, it is hard to know what true love is.
Although we have spoken of true love throughout history, loving without knowing your True Self cannot be true love.
Exploring the roots of this kind of love, you will eventually find betrayal and attachment.
The reason we must become enlightened is to recover the true love that lies insides our hearts.

Don’t Think About a Mulberry Tree While Standing in front of a Pine Tree
You can enjoy the fresh scent of pine trees inside a dense pine tree forest. When you open your chest wide and breathe in that scent,
Your head becomes clear and your heart is refreshed.
However if you think about a mulberry tree while standing in front of a pine tree, you cannot smell the scent that the pine tree is generously sharing with you.
Your head will be full of images of the mulberries and large leaves of the mulberry tree.
Here and there, I see this in people seeking truth.
However, these are just names and ways of communicating truth.
The important thing is realize the truth within you.
What is it that you truly want?
We go to a forest of pine trees for fresh air.
When you’re standing in front of a pine tree,
All you need to do is drink in as much oxygen as you want.
Thinking about a mulberry tree while standing in front of a pine tree
would be a waste of time.

Breath
The breath that I breathe is not mine
It is the breath of the universe
Breath of life
Swirling in the grand breath of Cosmic Mind
Sighing with the soft breathing of Cosmic Energy.
Grass, trees, clouds, people
All the universe dances
To the rhythm of my breathing.

What a wonderful reminder that all life is one.

Ilchi Lee’s Philosophy [HSP]
| [Health] |
| My sincerest wish is to provide tools which aid in the recovery of education, relationships, and harmony between humanity and nature. We carry a deep wish to create a healthier, happier, and more peaceful society. I believe in the power of this wish. I believe that the people who nurture this wish by the choices and actions that stem from their courageous insights make history. The most valuable legacy that we can pass on to future generations is the recovery of our humanity so that they can experience a deeper and more meaningful existence. | |
| [Smile] Choosing Happiness | |
| “Many people feel that they can only be happy and peaceful when they are given the right circumstances and conditions. However, we can be at peace and be content in this moment now, at this place now. This is our choice. There is nothing that is blocking this choice. Only our thoughts are obscuring this choice. Why can’t we be content and happy without conditions? Enlightenment is a choice that continues from instant to instant, from moment to moment.” |
| [Peace ] |
| “It is now time to acknowledge the ultimate and core value that is capable of encompassing and superceding the partial and prejudicial orientation of the current value systems of the world. It is the one that can become a fulcrum point that will allow balance, harmony, and peaceful coexistence of all people. This is the Earth. The Earth cannot be claimed by any one group or organization regardless of its size or power. If humanity can be said to share one collective vision, it would be peace on Earth. This collective vision may also be our hope for survival in the very near future. To realize that we are all Earth-Humans…this is the key.” |
